Women in Tech & Entrepreneurship Launch in Gainesville with Support from PS27 Ventures

With over 5,000 members across the State of Florida, Women in Tech & Entrepreneurship is one of the fastest-growing community organizations for founders, VCs, and students. Founded by Raechel Canipe, WTE hosts local networking events, educational workshops, and webinars that help women achieve their career goals.

PS27 Director of Business Development and Communications, Christine Caven, and Raechel Canipe initially connected at the Embarc Collective Glaring Gap Summit and stayed in touch through their roles on the leadership team of Synapse Florida.

“When Raechel Canipe approached me about starting a Women in Tech & Entrepreneurship chapter in Gainesville, I was eager to help. Working in venture capital, we know that only 2% of VC dollars go to companies with female founders. It’s time to change that. Gainesville is unique because it is home to the state’s top university, the University of Florida. It has an incredible tech community that I’ve gotten to know through organizations like startGNV, UF Innovate, and Santa Fe College.

We have a thriving tech ecosystem in Gainesville, and I believe we have some of the best female-led companies in the state. Launching a new chapter will provide the community with the resources women need to take their careers to the next level. I’m excited to be a Co-Chair with powerhouse founder Priya Rudradas and celebrate Gainesville’s evolving ecosystem, where everyone can access the tools they need to start a business,” said Caven.

The WTE Gainesville Launch will take place on September 25, 2024, at First Magnitude in Gainesville. Attendees can expect to meet other like-minded techies and leaders from companies like Infotech, Feathr, startGNV, the University of Florida, and Santa Fe College.
