Morning Keynote: Experience Orlando
Our team was blown away by the attendance and design of the morning keynote featuring Orlando thought leaders Sandy Hostetter, Central Florida Regional President at Truist Financial Corporation, Jerry Demings, Mayor of Orange County, and Buddy Dyer, Mayor of The City of Orlando.
One of the PS27 Rhea Fund verticals that we are seeking to invest in is sustainability, we were pleased to learn that Orlando is launching full speed ahead towards its goal of using energy from 100% renewable resources by 2050 becoming one of the most sustainable cities in the southeast.
2. The Reality of Scaling Up In Orlando with PS27 Portfolio Company Miventure
Jason Crystal, founder of Miventure, a PS27 Portfolio Company shared his story on what it is like to raise seed capital. Crystal shared what seed capital investors really look for in a startup seeking funding, how startups prepare to get funding, how deals come together, and what deal terms to expect. After a year of working with Miventure remotely, it was great to see Jason present in person!
3. Lunch with Our Friends at startGNV
We had the pleasure of sitting down with startGNV’s new Director Tammy Dygert over lunch. startGNV is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to growing the innovation ecosystem of Greater Gainesville. PS27’s Christine Caven currently serves on the board of startGNV providing insight to programming and giving back to the startup community.
4. Stax: The Making of a Unicorn
Suneera Madhani, CEO and Founder of Stax spoke on how she grew her fintech company to unicorn status. “Unicorn” is a term used in the venture capital industry to describe a privately held startup company with a value of over $1 billion. Madhani was also the PS27 Female Founders Forum Keynote in 2020. We love to see female-founded startups thriving in the sunshine state!
5. What It’s Really Like to Launch a Tech Company with Jordan Walker Co-Founder of Yac and PS27 Foundation Board Member
