Created in 1997 by veteran journalist Barbara Walters, The View is a daytime talk show hosted by women – including Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Paula Faris and Sara Haines. When Casey Kelley, founder of Blended Designs, was presented with the opportunity to be featured on the show she jumped at the chance.
The View on average has 2.7 million viewers with 550,000 of them in the female 25-54 demographic. Kelley hopes to inspire these women to encourage kids to seek a college education by teaching them a simple message, “I Can Do Anything”.
Casey Kelley is a mom, an entrepreneur and an advocate for inclusion. When her son Carter was shopping for a back to school backpack, she couldn’t find any character backpacks that looked like her son. Through his vanity, Carter asked his mom to create a backpack that looked like himself. Kelley created the bag and realized that there was a void in the market for backpacks that featured children of color. Through social media, Blended Designs grew a following of supporters including celebrity endorsements and sold out during their first year.
