Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., the Jacksonville Business Journal will sit down in a Facebook Live interview with the minds behind NeuroInitiative, a Jacksonville company trying to accelerate the path to treating Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimers.
Co-founders Spring Behrouz and Andy Lee will share the vision behind their company and how their custom-built, virtual brain cell can be used to test treatments rapidly and cost-effectively. Behrouz, a neuroscientist, serves as CEO, and Lee, a software engineer with more than 20 years experience, serves as chief technology officer.
The company’s virtual system has the potential to up-end today’s cumbersome drug development process, which on average takes 15 years and costs $1 billion with a high failure rate. By focusing their system on treatments for Parkinson’s and Alzheimers, the company hopes to combat diseases that afflict more than 50 million people a year. Read more at Jacksonville Business Journal.
